ALIGNING VALUES AND LEADERSHIP PRACTICE

Creating Space VII, April 5-7, 2006 – Durham, North Carolina

Creating Space VI in 2005 focused our learning on how to create a more diverse and inclusive leadership culture. Learning activities during this gathering surfaced a set of values important to participants that are not consistently honored, developed or rewarded in leadership practice. Many of these values speak to the integrity of individual and collective leadership behaviors like collaboration, teamwork, interdependence, compassion, humility and heart. Recent events call for leadership that can act on these values. The Leadership Learning Community came together to intensify our learning about how to support, develop, and exercise leadership that can foster breakthrough collaboration on behalf of equity and social justice.
